Progressive Car Insurance Includes Pets
“Protect Your Pet in the Car
With Pet Injury coverage, Progressive protects your dog or cat when they’re riding in the car.”
That’s from the Progressive web site. I went to check it out after seeing a Progressive commercial promoting their pet coverage.
From a different web site, I found a couple of interesting facts: 36% of Americans homes have dogs; 32% have cats.
I call it “thinking outside the box,” and I wonder why other insurance companies have not seen this opportunity as well.
I personally have two dogs and two cats. And like most pet owners, they are very much my family. I appreciate Progressive’s bold move to include pets in their services.
After seeing the Progressive pet coverage commercial, I’m considering contacting them. I’d be leaving the insurance company I’ve been with for over 24 years if I like what I see.
Insurance companies have ugly reputations. A lot of it is earned and deserved. After a personal experience with Allstate and trying to get them to pay the cost for fully repairing my car after being hit while parked in front of my house, I am totally wary of the insurance business.
My own insurance company offered no help, not even to intervene on my behalf. How much would it have cost them to make a phone call? The effort would have been appreciated and I would not be questioning my loyalty to them today. This, after paying them for at least 24 years with only 1 small claim.
What I like about Progressive Insurance Company is their attempt to relate to the needs of the general population (at least 68% of the population who own pets) and make changes to improve their service. Now that’s fresh thinking and uncommon for this type of industry.
Marketing 101 begins with SERVICE and going beyond general expectations and providing much MORE.
It appears Progressive understands this practice. Good for them!
